Police hope family weekend will deter Halloween problems

According to this article, “Police hope family weekend will deter Halloween problems," Carbondale police wants that people have fun Halloween without drinking. In the mid 80’s, Carbondale Halloween was very confused because people, especially young, drank too much then they made some troubles, such as breaking widows, fighting others, and making car accidents. So, Carbondale city has banned that bars and liquor shops open during Halloween weekend. However, some people argue about this banning because bars and liquor shops lose a lot of income. In addition, police suggests that people take care about drunk driver.

I think this banning is inevitable because if bars and liquor shops sell beer again, we come back to the mid 80’s. I can understand that SIU students want to be a spree because they are usually good students and they want to reduce feeling stress and boring. However, we should not violate the law.

Second year for downtown bars closed, University open

In this article, Second year for downtown bars closed, University open , the author talks about how to a void the problem of Halloween by closing the bars. For example in 2000 the University was closed and the bars were open. So, 150 people were arrested and also they damaged the city. However, when the city of Carbondale saw how serious this problem is, they closed the bars and the university was open. According to the police of Carbondale in the last Halloween nothing occurred to the city.

In my opinion, closing the bars in the Halloween is the best solution to avoid this kind of problem. Moreover, when the university is open the students will be busy which also is great idea. I think the city must keep doing the same thing every Halloween to avoid the violence in the future. However, that will keep the record of Carbondale clean, which will be great thing for the history of the city.

Not everyone celebrates Halloween

In this article, Not everyone celebrates Halloween, the author Samantha illusrated how people spend the day of Halloween and she focused on the people who do not celebrate Halloween. Most people do not know about history of Halloween and they just have fun with dressed in costume and having parties. Accordung to the history document, Halloween is came from the ancient Celtic festival which was related to death and dark. Many students in SIUC also do not celebrate Halloween because of either religious belief or cutural differences. After all, celebrating Halloween is really depend on how people like to participate on the celemony.

In my opinion, more people expect to have fun celemony of Halloween whether they know Halloween's history and meaning or not. People like to dressed in costume and have fun costume party. In my case, I do not celebrate Halloween and participate any party. Because, our country do not have this kind of celemony and it is very different with our costume for death and ghost. Also, almost of my Asian friends spend Halloween day just like thisr ordinary day. Even, some american have same day like used to without participating any party. I think that people should know its true meaning and history, if they want to celebrate it, or, spending ordinary night would be better.
